GMI Displayed in Booklet Showcasing the Energy Industry
General Microcircuits, Inc. (GMI) has been included in a recently released publication that showcases the energy industry in the Charlotte metro area. The booklet covers all facets of the energy industry, from generation to energy management and from well-established technologies to the latest innovations.
As a 16 county region, there are 250 energy organizations that call this area home. The area has a rich base of technically-trained workers across the spectrum of engineering disciplines.
In September, the Washington Post ran an article about Charlotte's quickly developing energy synergy. "I think we are going to be the energy capital of the country before it's all over," Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx said to the Post.
The article cited how companies are investing in the Charlotte area: "In 2010, 10 companies announced energy-related expansions in the area, and several more jumped in this year. Germany's Siemens is adding 825 jobs, Switzerland's ABB Group is adding 130 jobs. Celgard, a maker of lithium battery components, is adding 289 workers. SPX, which makes energy-related equipment and other products, is expanding its Charlotte headquarters and adding 180 jobs over the next five years..."
Those of us at GMI have been a part of The New Energy Capital initiative since its beginning, and we see the energy innovation and teamwork that is inherent in this region. We tap into this expertise to better serve our customers.
