General Microcircuits’ home is just north of Charlotte, North Carolina, where we operate our newly-expanded 85,000 square foot facility. Our domestic capabilities include high-speed electronic circuit assembly, finished hand assembly, testing, coating and packaging. We produce FCC-, CE-, UL- and TUV-certified programs.
GMI’s location is convenient to major airlines, cargo carriers and interstate highways. The Charlotte Douglas International airport is served by 9 airlines and serves as the 2nd largest hub for American Airlines, the nations largest airline. Charlotte Douglas has 165 non-stop flight destinations and offers over 700 flights daily.
Charlotte has completed construction of a $90 million intermodal rail and trucking facility giving a big boost to the city’s manufacturing and distribution sectors.
With this unique integration of roads, rail and air service, Charlotte will remain a focus for the distribution of goods within the Southeast. Goods made overseas can enter the port of Charleston, S.C., in containers, which can then travel via rail to the intermodal yard, where they can leave on trucks. While the goods are still in their containers they can then be transported for a multitude of destinations via the interstate system, all within 24 hours. Proximity to the airport further facilitates rapid shipment of goods.
Domestic production is ideally suited for low volumes, validations runs, and quick start ups, and allows tighter control of purchasing lead times, testing and delivery deadlines.
